Fone Free Sunday #5

Hi Guys,

A gentle reminder towards a technology free Sunday (last Sunday of the month) tomorrow. An initiative started by my blogger friend Pradita from The Pradita Chronicles and me. An initiative to look at something other than your devices. You can go through the rules here, no compulsions, no credits, just an initiative.

Came across a wonderful poem, which I feel is apt, as it talks about the times when they were no mobiles and how love was used as a means of communication.. A slightly long one, but do read..

😊🙏😊🙏😊🙏

Sailing Ships..

via Daily Prompt: Shallow

IC : Pixabay.com

A ship sails through the ups and downs in the waters of nature.

When the water is still, the ship moves silently, requires no skill,

When the water is deep and rough, the sail is tough.

So, sails the ship through the ups and downs of waters, keeping it’s mast high.

Sailing through the waters of life is the “relation”ship, which goes through its share of ups and downs..

When the waters of life  is still and silent, all is well and the sail is reliant,

When the water is rough, the heart is scuffed and has to deal with stuff,

When the waters are shallow, the relationship has no depth and is all hollow,

When the waters are deep, the relationship stands the tests of time, with love present to seep,

So, sails the “relation”ship through the ups and downs of life, keeping its head high !!

Mothers Love

Through this poetry, I am describing the woes of a mother who lost her young child. The English translation, may not be perfect, I’ve tried to get a gist of it.

You came into my life

As a new born baby,

I played a lot with you,

You truly changed the way I live.

You had just arrived, and you just left,

How I wish you thought about me just once,

How would I ever live without you

If you left this world one fine day

I live with your memories,

I’m neither living, nor dead,

Your memories are my only jewelery,

Which I adorn very carefully

You bring tears to my eyes, you puzzle me

You wipe my tears, being my friend you cajole me,

I smile to myself and I am lost in deep thoughts about you.

I have treasured, everything that once belonged to you,

I have held your photograph, and I have talked to you for days.

I keep searching and looking for you,

I become restless when I am unable to find you,.

I gaze at the stars in the sky,

I’m longing to join you there up in the sky,

We will talk and play with each other all over again,

We’ll truly change our lives and live again.

I am longing to meet you,all day and all night

I want to convey  my feelings to you,

Just once, tell me where you are,

Let me just give you a hug and love you with all my heart.

Floodgates of thoughts..

via Daily Prompt: Gate

portal-2384410__340

When we are standing in front of a gate, there are always two options, entry or exit, depending on which side of the gate we are on.

Similarly, our mind, is a gateway to the flow of thoughts. There are some which are entering, some which are exiting. We are in a position to control them at times, and at times, we just get sucked into a whirlwind of thoughts. Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if we were the guards, to our thoughts? Exit gate open to all negative, stressful and disturbing thoughts and entry gates open to all thoughts coated with positivity, energy  and relaxation. Yes, I know, if it were this simple, I wouldn’t be writing this today 🙂

It seems difficult, but doable. To calm down the flurry of thoughts, which sometimes arrive as though the floodgates have been opened, just watch them, observe them and with due respect, show them the exit gate. Do not give them “food for thought”, for then they are guests who will stay on…I’ve been trying this out for some time now, and it definitely does seem to work and helps in dismissing them !!

Zentangle Creations..

“Zen” in Japanese means meditation & tangle is to entangle. “Zentangle” is a form of meditative art in which, the various patterns are tangled to form a beautiful image. This art is very intuitive, abstract & fun to learn. It involves drawing structured repetitive patterns which leads to the formation of beautiful designs. It increases creativity, focus and brings in a sense of well being and calms down and relaxes the mind.

For me personally, the introduction to zentangle was a chance event. I was always interested in the traditional form of art – drawing, painting, craft and the like. I accidentally happened to come across a post on zentangle in one of the social networking sites, which immediately caught my attention. This led me to do some netsurfing to discover more about this art form. From then on, I have taken to it literally, like a fish to water.

I have since created a few patterns and it gives me a kind of deep relaxation & relieves me from any stress that I may be going through. It calms me down. The feeling, of putting pen on paper and creating something so wonderful is just exhilarating. This art form brings out the creative expression within me & also gives me tremendous satisfaction. On busy days, I literally have to steal time for my newly discovered passion.

I have gifted a few of my zentangle creations to my near and dear ones, and the pleasure I derive from gifting my very own creations, is indeed very satisfying.

Fire and water

via Daily Prompt: Disastrous

IC : Pixabay.com

A tiny flame of a lamp fire can spread brightness,

A small heat from the fire, helps us roll out wonderful meals,

A  petite flash of fire on an insence stick, spreads fragrance,

A tiny spark is good enough to propel an engine.

But, a tiny spark neglected can turn ugly and disastrous.

Likewise,

Small amounts of water, quenches thirst,

Tiny tiny droplets of water, help us refresh,

Small  quantities of water, brings life into beings and plants,

Rivers and oceans flow perennially to contribute to our existence.

But, a tiny tremor under water can cause a Tsunami. Excessive incessant rains, Cyclones, tornado’s cloud bursts, we’ve seen the ill effects of all these furious forms of water.

Likewise, a human body also has elements of fire and water, and excess of either could burn us out or drown us in the deluge…the results of either could be disastrous. It’s always good to have and try to maintain a right balance of fire and water.

Keep the fire in us burning to drive us  towards our passion, to give us the dynamism and exuberance..

Keep our water element active by keeping cool, meditating, having compassion, practicing kindness, being ever grateful for what we have…

Have a blend of both, and it’s a perfect recipe, but in case of a clash of fire and water in your mind, give water the upper hand !!

Just an analogy, which came up while I thought about the prompt.Do let me know, what you feel. Would love to hear from you all.

The Life Tree

via Daily Prompt: Edible

A tree begins it’s journey from a tiny seed. Sprouting from the seed is a life, which has the potential to go on to become a huge, gigantic and mammoth tree. With care and nurturing it grows into a tiny sapling, dancing and swaying to the tunes of the wind. With love and care, it grows slowly and steadily to leap towards the sky and mature into a huge tree, to bear edible fruits, to withstand the strong winds, provide shelter and stand tall to provide life to the creatures and beings on the soil.

I often feel, there is a huge connect between humans and the trees. If I could draw an analogy, it would read, the human tree of LIFE. The conception of a human life, germinating from a sperm and an egg (could be compared to that of a seed), a little child coming to life (a tiny sapling), with care and nurturing, growing to be an adult ( a mature tree experiencing life) experiencing many facets and branching to different directions, bearing off springs (tree bearing fruits), providing for children, parents financially and otherwise (trees providing food, shelter etc).

And one fine day, it’s time to bid adieu, after offering our services and taking care of our duties, we are off the list, to begin the journey into another sphere of life !!

Haibun – An artists composition

The melodies of my day, dancing along the happy and the sad keys. Some beautiful memories of fun and frolic playing the happy keys. And, while I am upset and disturbed with the notes of arguments and misunderstandings with my near and dear ones, I am swaying to the tunes of the sad keys. I turn my mode, to one of introspection, to get a blend of harmony into my notes. The musical notes calming my nerves and soothing my anxious energies. Synergy with my energy triggering the artistic passion in me to create and give a beautiful art form to my tangled thoughts.

Patterns and notes,

Blend to perfect harmony,

Lending a thought to my creation,

Oh ! What a perfect combination !!

A twinkle of the star,

A sprinkle of raindrops,

A tinkle of laughter,

A gambol of happy feet…

Are meant to be savored and enjoyed.

A bumble of words,

A mumble or a squabble,

A tremble of fear,

And a stumble over a hurdle…

Are meant to be handled with poise.

A sparkle of true love,

A flicker of joy,

A glimmer of hope,

And a jingle of life…

Are to be perceived and treasured.

For life is a mixed bag of emotions,

Enjoy every flavor and march ahead with determination.
